The locals often serve hot sauces with their dishes. “Pelau”, a rice dish of Afghan origin, is also very popular in Trinidad and Tobago. Corn soup, shrimp and roti (a South Asian bread, which is mainly known in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka) are also among the specialties of the southern Caribbean islands.

Day 1: Tobago
After your arrival on Tobago, transfer to the hotel in the south of the island.
Day 2: Scarborough – Plymouth – Buccoo Reef – Scarborough (approx. 55 km, approx. 1.5 hours)
In the morning acceptance of the rental car. Get to know Tobago’s capital, Scarborough, and Plymouth, a place steeped in history. Take a drive along the Caribbean coast to Castara Bay. We also recommend a trip with the glass-bottom boat to Buccoo Reef, one of the most famous coral reefs in the Caribbean, which has been under nature protection since 1982.
Day 3: Scarborough – Crown Point – Pigeon Point- Scarborough (approx. 40 km, approx. 1 hour)
Today you can enjoy sun, sea and the many offers of Crown Point and Pigeon Point one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
Day 4: Scarborough – Speyside (approx. 45 km, approx. 1 h)
On the way to your Speyside hotel, visit Main Forest Ridge, Tobago’s tropical rainforest. The oldest protected rainforest in the western hemisphere has been a nature reserve since 1765.
Day 5: Speyside
Your hotel is located in a quiet sandy bay with palm trees. The fishing village of Speyside is within walking distance. The glass-bottom boat sails from the landing stage of your hotel to the offshore island of Little Tobago. You can experience flora and fauna on a hike on the small island. On the way back there will be time to snorkel over the Angel Ree
Day 6: Speyside
This day is at your disposal. Enjoy the day on the beach.
Day 7: Speyside
Return the rental car in the morning. The afternoon is at your disposal.

Transfer from the hotel to the airport.

During the rental car tour you will discover the island of Trinidad. Let yourself be inspired by the incomparable nature, the deep green forests and the tropical bird species. You will also visit the unique asphalt lake – the largest single natural bitumen source in the world.
Day 1: Trinidad
Upon arrival in Trinidad, transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Port of Spain – Caroni swamps – Port of Spain (approx. 80 km, approx. 2 hours)
Acceptance of the rental car. Take a drive along the rainforest mountain range of the north coast to the beaches of Marakas, Las Cuevas and Blanchisseuse. In the afternoon you can take a tour to the Caroni swamps.
Day 3: Nariva Swamp
Take a guided day trip to the Nariva Swamp (optional) today. You drive to the east coast to the largest freshwater swamp on the island. A boat will take you to an area where you can see numerous animals.
Day 4: Port of Spain – Grande Riviere (approx. 110 km, approx. 2 hours)
On the drive to the lodge on the leatherback turtle beach, it is worth visiting the town of Arima and the Aripo Caves, a stalactite cave system located at the foot of the island’s highest mountain.
Day 5: Grande Riviere
Around 10,000 of the protected giant tortoises come to this beach to lay their eggs between March and September each year. The lodge offers many different walks, wildlife viewing and boat trips (optional).
Day 6: Grande Riviere – Mount St. Benedict (approx. 95 km, approx. 2 h)
Drive to your guest house on Mount St. Benedict. Along the way, learn about the Asa Wright Nature Reserve.
Day 7: Mount St. Benedict – Pitch Lake – Mount St. Benedict (approx. 160 km, approx. 3 h)
In Chaguanas, where much of the Indian population of Trinidad lives, is the largest Hindu statue in the world outside of India. Continue to La Brea to the asphalt Pitch Lake.
Day 8: Trinidad
Drive to the airport and drop off the rental car.
